The programme is run by the UK’s innovation agency, Innovate UK and is co-funded by partners including the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, the main funding body for engineering and physical sciences research in the UK,the UK government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and the Global Challenges Research Fund, a £1.5 billion fund announced by the UK Government to support cutting-edge research that addresses the challenges faced by developing countries.

BEIS: The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is the UK Government department responsible for business, energy, industrial strategy, science, research and innovation, clean growth, and climate change policy.
